Test method for measuring the total alkalinity of boiler water

Boiler water alkalinity is actually what we usually say that the boiler scale, so how about the boiler water alkalinity assembly? The boiler water and alkali is too high not only make the steam quality deterioration, affect the quality of the steam unit products, but also for the superheater boiler, in the superheater easy to produce salt or even blocked, if the furnace water free alkali is too high, but also easy to produce alkali brittle, therefore, the boiler water alkalinity detection is particularly important.The following small series will be equipped with ERUN-ST-MU 97 desktop multi-parameter water quality detector to explain the detection methods and steps of total basinity of boiler water in detail.

Equipment of the total alkalinity mixing reagent:

Before use, mix it according to the ratio of "reagent A": "reagent B" =3:1 and then use it.

1.Preparation of blank samples

Place 10.0mL distilled water in a clean special color tube, then add 1.0mL of total alkalinity mixing reagent, shake it well, place it for 5min, and test on the machine.

2.preparation of sample 

When the total alkalinity concentration is (total alkalinity _L)0~100.0mg/L: Take 10.0mL sample to be tested and place it in a cleaned special colorimetric tube, then add 1.0mL of total alkalinity mixing reagent, shake well, place for 5min, and test on machine.

When the total alkalinity concentration is (total alkalinity _H) 100 ~ 1000 mg/L:  Take 1.0mL of samples to be tested in the cleaned special colorimetric tube, add 9.0 mL of distilled water, then add 1.0mL of total alkalinity mixing reagent, plug well, place for 5min, and machine for test.

3. Equipment boot

Connect the power cord and turn on the switch.

4. Blank measurement

Under the main menu, click "Curve Selection" and select the corresponding curve. Then wipe the blank color tube to be tested, put the color tube into the color hole. Under the main menu, click the "blank measurement" item. After the light absorption value is stable, press the "Confirm" key to confirm, and the instrument will automatically adjust zero.

5. Sample measurement

Wipe the sample tube and put it in the color hole. Under the main menu, click "Sample Measurement" item for the instrument Enter the sample measurement interface, and directly display the total alkalinity concentration value (mg/L).

6. The test is completed

After the measurement is completed, clean the colorlet tube and dry for later use. Shutdown the device and disconnect the power supply.

7.Measuring principle 

The color of methyl orange is gradually changed from orange to yellow from 3.1 to 4.4, and the depth of the color is proportional to the alkalinity, as measured at the maximum absorption wavelength.
